Hi, I am noticing that the "Stop Refreshing" link doesn't always show in the console, and it just occured to me--what if there were a QN command to toggle refreshing on and off? What say you?

I've never noticed a problem with the refresh link not showing up, though I can imagine that would be annoying.

The only potential problem I see with this is that for those who either type more slowly or get to the edit box shortly before it refreshes, that still doesn't necessarily solve the problem cleanly. I've forgotten the page was refreshing, started to type a quicknote and had the page re-refresh, losing everything. I'd say it would be a lot better if we could get to the bottom of whatever is causing that link not to show up. Of course, I'm nowhere near being an authority on here, but I just thought I'd throw my two cents in.

And to clarify, I'm not saying that's a bad idea or something that in my opinion shouldn't be considered, just that it wouldn't solve everything.

if the stop refreshing link doesn't show up, usually mean you haven't set your council to auto refresh, or, if there's some qns waiting for you in the next page.
even if its on continuem refresh, if there're qns on the next page, it will show next link, instead of stop refreshing link

Interesting. I was talking to someone who said there was an ALT+R command, but the problem is, what if you're using a note-taker? I don't personally use the console, this came about because someone was troubleshooting a problem and I thought this would be a good solution. For the record, I type extremely quickly, but autorefresh would still drive me loca.

It's like post 4 said, the page only refreshes when there are no quicknotes to read.

Once you receive a quicknote, the page no longer refreshes and you get a link labled "next" instead.

You don't have to use shortcut keys, simply clicking the link does the same thing.

Does your note taker have a way of dealing with built-in hotkeys? It should, but then there are a lot of things various note takers should do. Either way, you don't need hotkeys. It's one of only two or three links on the page at a given time.

I've noticed that sometimes when i get a quicknote, the sounder will go off, and there will be nothing there, until i turn off then on the vergual curcer with jaws. that could be a Jaws thing? Happend on both my laptop and desktop, useing IE8 , Windows XP and Jaws 13.

I personally like qn console. It's because we don't wana manually refresh that while we are only just listening to the conversation.

Also if you wana post something, either you can wait for a qn and then you can post without auto refresh disturbance or else, you can hit the stop refresh link or another solution is clicking the main link and posting from the main page.

I haven't heard of alt r command anywhere so far. I'd rather hit control r for refreshing while I'm in the main page. Instead of f5.

A suggestion I have is if we could control the length of time (in seconds) the concel refreshes itself?

I do agree with this suggestion. However, if the page refreshes too often, it could cause the site to lag for everyone, kind of like accessing the site stats. and you can stop it from refreshing manually. Again, not a bad idea. But let's be honest. There are many bugs and suggestions that have been reported as of late, and though the most pressing ones seem to have been fixed, there's a lot more that needs to be done here first.

perhaps there should be a cap on how fast you want it to refresh but you could make the refresh longer?
